Bonnie and Michael worked together for almost a year on the re-negotiation of Teranet’s contract with the Ontario Government for the implementation and operation of the province’s electronic land registration system (E-Reg). This project involved the successful mediation of a number of serious disputes that undermined the success of the project and future of the public-private partnership in Teranet. It paved the way for the Government’s successful sale of its stake in Teranet to private investors in 2004 and established a governance model which is expected to guide the venture for the next decade. Bonnie and Michael will share their experiences — the challenges, frustrations and war stories — working on an extremely complex, multi-party dispute resolution project. They will offer hard-won insights into traps to avoid, as well as best practices for identifying, resolving and preventing disputes in large IT implementation and outsourcing projects.

COST FOR ATTENDANCE

Cost for lunch: $10 for members and students, $15 for non-members, payable at the meeting. Receipts will be available. Cheques should be made payable to the Toronto Computer Lawyers’ Group.
