This session will explore the state of Canadian and international privacy and security regulatory guidance for mobile app developers and vendors. It will also highlight tensions with guidance on using mobile apps in a “Bring Your Own Device” setting and identify some emerging issues.
Lunch will be served at noon and the presentation will begin at 12:30 pm.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Timothy M. Banks is the Canadian Lead for the Privacy and Security practice at Dentons Canada LLP. Mr. Banks’ practice also includes assisting clients in navigating Canadian laws relating to Consumer Protection. He advises clients on data lifecycle management, privacy disclosures, privacy and security contractual requirements, cross-border data transfers, cloud computing, and data breach management, as well as consumer contracting requirements, unclaimed property and gift card regulation. COST FOR ATTENDANCE
Cost for lunch is ten dollars ($10) for TCLG members and students, twenty dollars ($20) for non-members, payable at the meeting. Receipts will be available. Cheques should be made payable to the “Toronto Computer Lawyers’ Group”.
MEMBERSHIP
The cost of membership for lawyers is fifty-five dollars ($55). The membership fee for students is waived; articling students and law school students may join the TCLG free of charge by indicating that they are “students” on the membership application form. REGISTRATION
Please register before 10:00 am on Monday January 27, 2014. Registrations will not be confirmed unless the lunch is fully booked. Substitutions are permitted anytime.
