Despite our best efforts when negotiating IT contracts, disputes often arise. What can we do as IT lawyers to help our clients manage and resolve these disputes more effectively? Michael Erdle will draw on over 20 years of computer law experience to provide practical tips for dealing with difficult disputes at the negotiation stage, during contract performance and when things blow up. He will also talk about the particular challenges raised by complex projects and multi-party dispute.

Michael Erdle is a founding member of the firm. He practices primarily in the area of information technology law, with an emphasis on licensing and dispute resolution. He is a Chartered Arbitrator and has acted as facilitator and mediator in the resolution of technology disputes.
Michael’s practice includes internet and e-commerce; patent, trade-mark and copyright protection of information technology; technology development and licensing; technology transfers; joint ventures; private-public sector partnerships; financing of technology and technology ventures; outsourcing; electronic publishing and the mediation and arbitration of technology and intellectual property disputes.
Michael has been recognized by Lexpert Canadian Legal Directory as one of Canada’s leading IT Lawyers. He is Past-President of the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada. Michael is a director of the ADR Institute of Ontario and co-chairs the ADRIO Technology and Intellectual Property Section. He is also a member of the Toronto Computer Lawyers Group, ADR Institute of Canada, Canadian IT Law Association, OBA Technology and E-Commerce Section, Information Technology Association of Canada and the International Technology Law Association.

Cost for lunch: ten dollars ($10) for members and students, twenty dollars ($20) for non-members, payable at the meeting. Receipts will be available. Cheques should be made payable to the Toronto Computer Lawyers’ Group.
